Mujeres Poderosas Amorosas is an immigrant Latina women network as part of Cultiva La Salud project in partnership with Safety Through Connections to build resilience and mitigating the risk of domestic violence.
This network driven by Latina immigrants is aimed to offer a space for emotional wellness, resource sharing, capacity building, community organizing, and building influence and power.
By working upstream on prevention of domestic abuse and intimate partner violence, we intend to minimize those factors that create risk and increase those components that build resilience among Latina immigrants.
We work under three domains:
- People: This domain is about building the self-love and self-worth of Latina immigrants in Fresno County.
- Place: This domain is about creating safe places where Latina immigrants live in Fresno County.
- Equitable Opportunities: This domain is about advancing policies that create equitable opportunities for Latina immigrants.
We would not be able to accomplish these efforts by ourselves. We are counting on the support and guidance of our Kitchen Cabinet members from partner organizations. We are currently active through our social media networks on WhatsApp and Facebook on a weekly basis.
Mujeres Poderosas Amorosas plans weekly gatherings where immigrant Latina women get together to discuss different topics of their interest.
Mujeres Poderosas Amorosas es una red de mujeres inmigrantes Latinas auspiciada por Cultiva La Salud en asociación con Safety Through Connections con el propósito de fomentar la resiliencia y mitigar el riesgo de violencia doméstica.
Esta red organizada por mujeres inmigrantes Latinas, está enfocada en crear un espacio para el bienestar emocional, capacitar, compartir recursos, organizar a la comunidad para crear fuentes de influencia y poder.
Al trabajar en la prevención de la violencia doméstica, pretendemos minimizar los factores de riesgo y aumentar las oportunidades para crear resiliencia entre las inmigrantes latinas.
Trabajamos en función de tres componentes:
- Gente: Este componente busca crear un espacio para el amor propio y promover la autoestima de la mujer inmigrante Latina.
- Lugar: Este componente pretende crear lugares seguros donde las mujeres inmigrantes Latinas puedan vivir con dignidad en el Condado de Fresno.
- Igualdad de Oportunidades: Este componente busca crear avances en la políticas públicas para fomentar sistemas equitativos para inmigrantes Latinas.
El éxito de los esfuerzos para crear una red de mujeres inmigrantes Latinas ha sido posible gracias al apoyo y la orientación de los miembros asesores (Kitchen Cabinet por su nombre en inglés) de las organizaciones asociadas e individuos.
Mujeres Poderosas Amorosas realiza juntas semanales donde las participantes de esta red se reúnen para discutir diferentes temas de interés para ellas y su comunidad.
